Meetings are held the first and third Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the Pritchard Community Center. Work sessions are held on the second and fourth Mondays at 4:30 p.m. at Pritchard Community Center.

Boards & Commissions
The purpose of the Airboard is to establish, maintain, operate and expand the Elizabethtown Airport and air navigation facilities at Addington Field. The Elizabethtown Airport is a general aviation airport with a runway length of 6,001 feet and full-service support facilities operated by a Fixed Base Operator under contract to the Airport Board. The Board of Zoning Adjustment is established under state law and the Elizabethtown Zoning Ordinance to consider Conditional Use Permits, Variances and Administrative Appeals under the procedures of the Zoning Ordinance. The five-member citizen board utilizes the guidelines of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and the standards as established by KRS 100 to render its decisions.

The Civil Service Commission holds examinations of the qualification of all applicants for positions within the Elizabethtown Police or Fire Departments and promotions within the departments. The Commission also hears and adjudicates charges against or involving members of the police and fire departments.
Meetings
The Civil Service Commission meets within 10 days of receiving a written petition, which identifies the nature of the business to be discussed and at other called meeting times.

The Code Enforcement Board supports the City’s program to protect, promote and improve the health, safety and welfare of the citizens residing in Elizabethtown. The board conducts hearings on the enforcement of a variety of City ordinances to gain and assuring that the enforcement of the ordinances by the City administrative staff is fair. The board may issue remedial orders and impose civil fines in order to provide an equitable, expeditious, effective and inexpensive method of code enforcement by the City.

The County Ethics Board provides methods of assuring that standards of ethical conduct and financial disclosure requirements for officers, employees, board and commission members shall be clearly established, uniform in their application and enforceable. The board provides members with advice and information concerning potential conflicts of interest which might arise in the conduct of their public duties. This is a county board and the City appoints one representative.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of January, the Wednesday after April 15th and when necessary.

The purpose of the Historic Preservation Commission is to effect and accomplish the preservation, protection and use of the Historic District and individual landmarks, which have a special character and historic, architectural and cultural value to the City. The Commission promotes the educational, cultural and economic aspects of the community’s historic buildings and safeguards the City’s history and heritage. The Historic Preservation Commission stabilizes and improves property values in the district and in the City, as a whole. The Commission also fosters civic pride in the value of notable accomplishments of the past and protects and enhances the City’s attractions to residents and visitor. The five-member Commission reviews applications for the renovation of buildings within the district for compliance with building and property preservation standards and issues a Certificate of Appropriateness for the work to be performed.

The Housing Authority provides adequate and sanitary living quarters for individuals or families with low or moderate income.

The Planning Commission prepares the Comprehensive Plan under the procedures of state law for the community to use in the development of local land use regulations such as the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations. The five-member Commission also holds hearings for map amendment requests and zoning text amendments and conducts commercial design review for development projects.

The purpose of the Local Board of Assessment Appeals is to hold a public hearing for each individual taxpayer appeal in protest of the assessment by the property valuation administrator filed. After the hearing, all the evidence shall fix the assessment of the property at its fair cash value. This is a county board and the City appoints one representative.
