EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2024
The City of Elizabethtown provides a year-round brush collection service for residents and small commercial customers located within the corporate city limits. The City is divided into 4 areas to allow the Department of Public Works to collect brush on a four (4) week rotating schedule. This schedule is subject to change due to emergencies, inclement weather, equipment failure and/or scheduling of personnel.
Collection Guidelines
The City will collect debris resulting from trees and shrubs which have been pruned or trimmed at residential and small commercial properties that are less than twelve (12) inches in diameter and/or five (5) feet in length. This service does not include collection of cut trees and shrubs or debris resulting from the clearing of land. Brush or cut trees that exceed twelve (12) inches in diameter and/or five (5) feet in length and generated from locations within the corporate city limits of Elizabethtown will be accepted at the Public Works Facility (MPSF) located at 1600 Nicholas Street.
Placement of Debris
Brush shall be placed within twelve (12) feet of the street curb line or at the edge of the paved street surface. Brush shall not be placed in areas that block driving lanes, sidewalks, drainage ditches, or catch basins. This includes areas adjacent to above ground utilities (utility poles, pedestals, fire hydrants, etc.), and mailboxes.
Contractors
Licensed contractors who cut or trim trees or bushes, within the boundary of the corporate city limits, that exceed the above guidelines must remove the resulting debris from the property and provide disposal of debris in an approved manner or deliver to 1600 Nicholas Street for disposal.
For clarification of these guidelines or any questions, call (270) 737-8482.
