JOB TITLE: Seasonal Custodian CLASS: 51 – Seasonal
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
LOCATION: Multiple (Freeman Lake Park, American Legion Park, Ball Park Maintenance, Pritchard Community Center)
POSITION OVERVIEW
Custodial Staff support the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall presentation of City of Elizabethtown parks and facilities. This position is available at multiple locations, including Pritchard Community Center, American Legion Park, Freeman Lake Park, and other city facilities as needed.
Employees hired for this role will be assigned to one primary facility for the season. While applicants may indicate a preferred work location during the hiring process, final placement will be determined by the Parks & Recreation Department based on operational needs.
Custodial Staff play an important behind-the-scenes role in supporting daily operations and special events by ensuring facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for the public.
Examples of Duties
- Perform routine janitorial and custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and restroom cleaning
- Maintain cleanliness of indoor and outdoor facility spaces depending on assigned location
- Assist with event setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, and equipment
- Monitor and restock supplies such as paper products and cleaning materials
- Respond to cleaning needs during events and high-traffic periods
- Assist facility staff as needed to support daily operations
- Perform other custodial or support duties as assigned
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items, including full trash bags and event equipment
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions when required
- Willingness to perform physically demanding work
- Ability to follow cleaning procedures and safety guidelines

- This is a seasonal position with the Parks & Recreation Department
- Work schedules may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Hours and days worked may vary based on facility needs and scheduled events
- Training will be provided on facility-specific procedures and equipment
