Summer Camp Supervisor
The Summer Camp Supervisor will oversee all day-to-day operations for the 2023 Parks and Recreation Summer Camp. Responsibilities include but are not limited to management of both Campers and Camp Counselors, enforcing the rules and policies of Summer Camp that are set by the Programs Coordinator, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all campers, helping prepare activities and materials for camp, and other duties as assigned. Experience and the desire to work with children are essential for this role. Previous supervisory experience is also preferred. Applicants will need to be at least 18 years of age and be CPR and Frist Aid Certified.
Pool Front Desk Supervisor
The Pool Front Desk Supervisor will assist the Pool Manager at American Legion Waterpark in all front desk operations. Responsibilities include supervising all front desk staff, handling money and counting tills at the end of the night, working with computers and POS software, solving front desk problems as they arise, helping and enforcing all cleaning responsibilities, and helping enforce all waterpark rules to staff and patrons throughout the day. In addition to Lifeguard Supervisor, this role will be in charge of pool operations in the absence of the Pool Manager. Previous supervisor and cash handling experience preferred. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. The pool is open seven days a week; expect weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts throughout the season.
Lifeguard Supervisor
The Lifeguard Supervisor will assist the Pool Manager in all Lifeguard operations at the American Legion Waterpark. Responsibilities include ensuring all scheduled lifeguards are present for their shift, monitoring lifeguards’ daily performance, filling in as needed in the lifeguard role if short-staffed, and enforcing waterpark rules to staff and patrons. This role will be in charge of pool operations in the absence of the Pool Manager along with the Front Desk Supervisor. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard. We will provide uniforms/suits. The pool is open seven days a week; expect weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts throughout the season.
Lifeguard
All Lifeguards will work at the American Legion Waterpark. Responsibilities include being on the stand, standing in the water, or being in the water observing swimmers to ensure their safety while swimming in the pool. All lifeguards are expected to observe the pool area for safety issues, help enforce pool rules, and provide CPR and First Aid when needed. Guards will assist with all cleaning procedures, including daily cleaning guard duties and end-of-shift cleaning. Having your lifeguard certification prior to employment is preferred. However, we will provide a class to get you certified if you cannot do so before your start date. The minimum age to be a Lifeguard is 15. We will provide uniforms/suits. The pool is open seven days a week; expect weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts throughout the season.
Pool Front Desk Cashier
Pool Cashiers are the first people patrons approach when visiting our facility. Pool cashiers need to be able to communicate clearly with patrons, be comfortable handling money, using a computer, using POS software, and answering phones. Communication is key for this role as they are at the front line with patrons and expected to be observant in enforcing the facility rules and in good communication with the Lifeguards if any issues arise. Pool Cashiers are also responsible for keeping the facility clean throughout the day and handling and working with party room rentals. The pool is open seven days a week; expect weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts throughout the season.
Summer Camp Counselors
Summer Camp Counselors will work the 2023 Parks and Recreation Summer Camp. Counselors will be responsible for all hands-on interactions with Campers, including leading Campers in activities (games, arts and crafts, etc.), supervising field trips and guest speakers, and providing excellent guidance and structure to the camp.
Enjoying interaction with children is necessary. Counselors must be able to communicate not only with the children but also with parents when there are incidents. Providing a safe environment for the children is your number one concern, along with having fun! Long days are to be expected with cleaning and picking up after games and activities.
Boat Dock Attendant
This position is at Freeman Lake Park and will assist with the boat rental operations. Responsibilities include helping patrons on and off rental boats, helping enforce boat rental rules and the lifejacket policy, coordinating with office staff and Shift Leader, answering questions and helping address issues as they arise, assisting with the nightly cleaning of the office, cleaning out boats and disinfecting lifejackets, and other duties as assigned. This position will work primarily outdoors, and must be comfortable working around and on the water/dock. Boat rentals are open seven days a week; expect weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts throughout the season.
Pool Maintenance Staff
This position will assist American Legion Park staff with general maintenance and upkeep of the American Legion Waterpark. Responsibilities include preparing the pool to open for the season in the spring, operating pool maintenance equipment and pumps, testing and monitoring pool chemicals to ensure they meet the Kentucky Health Standards, ensuring all pool equipment is operating properly and safely, assisting with the maintenance of the pool house and pool deck, assisting with the winterization of the pool in the fall, and other duties as assigned. This position will be primarily outdoors, and may have to get in the water to perform job duties. Hours will be primarily through the week, and once the pool season starts, will include mornings and evenings on the weekends. All pool equipment and chemicals training will be provided; applicants are not required to have prior knowledge of aquatic facilities. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply for this position.
Maintenance/Grounds Staff
Maintenance/Grounds positions will primarily be outside either at American Legion Park, Freeman Lake Park, or working on ball fields with Ball Park Maintenance in multiple locations. Examples of work include mowing, weed eating, janitorial work, field maintenance, and other duties as assigned. You must be at least 16 years old. Most shifts are throughout the week unless told otherwise by your supervisor. Schedule flexibility and commitment are a must.
Pritchard Community Center Custodian
This position will assist Pritchard Community Center Staff with janitorial duties during events throughout the week and on weekends. Janitorial work will be the primary responsibility, but this position will also assist with the setup and breakdown of events. You must be at least 18 years old to apply. The applicant will be expected to work 3 to 4 days per week.
